The Scottish team (Neil Scott, Allan Simmons, Simon Gillam, Alan Sinclair) finished in third place, just half a point behind England, in this year's Four Nations Tournament in Belfast. The combined Irish team won the event for the first time.

The WSC took place in Warsaw, Poland, from 12 to 16 October. The Scottish team did sufficiently well to gain a fifth player for the next WSC in 2013. Their final positions were : Helen Gipson 18th (top female player), Neil Scott 19th, Allan Simmons 30th, Simon Gillam 58th.
